Research
I am primarily a climatologist, and my interests lie in the causes and
impacts of climate change and variability. Addressing our current
environmental challenges will require a better understanding of the
natural range of climate variability and how it impacts the Earth's
systems, as well as the driving forces behind that variability. I am
focusing on this goal through my dissertation research, which combines
traditional applied climate techniques with dendrochronology, the
science that uses tree rings to analyze temporal and spatial patterns
of processes. The objective of my project is to improve understanding
of hydroclimatic variability in the Rocky Mountain West by conducting a
multi-scale examination of an important climate transition zone that
significantly impacts Western water supply.
