Curriculum Vitae

Research

I am interested in the conservation and preservation of biodiversity throughout the world, which spans the disciplines of political ecology, conservation and biogeography. More specifically, my work focuses on the physical, biological and social components associated with protected area management. My current research is on sustainable "eco"-tourism in and around marine protected areas and the role community stakeholders play in developing policy, protecting livelihoods and preserving ecosystem integrity. I am also very interested in the development of alternative forms of pedagogy in a field based/expeditionary learning environment.

Project Involvement

  • Fish, Floatboats and Feds: Conservation and Recovery of ESA listed Salmon on the upper Salmon River, ID and the greater Columbia drainage.
  • Fish assemblage structure and protected area designation in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.
  • Biological Inventory of the Rio Mayo, Sonora and Chihuahua Mexico.
  • International expeditionary learning programs in conjunction with: Study Abroad, Outdoor Adventures, Geography and Natural Resources.
  • Ecotourism and restoration in Chiriqui Province, Panama.
