Research

My research is centered on how economic restructuring and neoliberalisation processes have affected traditional forms of urban management in Brazil. More specifically I am interested in how such changes have affected the roles and relationships of different sectors (nongovernmental, public, private) involved in the provision and delivery of public services in urban areas. The goal of my research is to uncover how and why such arrangements, between different sectors, have many times failed to deliver or perpetuated social housing deficit in Brazil. Lastly, my research should elucidate what mechanisms are being used that partially mitigates low-income housing shortage in Brazilian medium size cities.
