Curriculum Vitae
Research
I am a political geographer with research interests in local community governance, planning, and nature-society issues. My primary area of interest is in the Sunbelt cities of the American West, where rapid urban development writhes in perpetual tension with ecological and planning preservation ethics. I approach my research from both theoretical and applied perspectives, such as the derivation of planning practice from discursive origins. Currently, I am developing a doctoral research project to study neighborhood politics in Las Vegas, NV.
Most recently, I have been a Graduate Research Assistant at the Drachman Institute, here in Tucson, AZ. My involvement on these projects has ranged from GIS database management to policy research and analysis on affordable housing. Funding for these projects is drawn from federal and local agencies. I also teach upper-level classes on Metro Tucson and The American City here in GRD.
